The Casa Cinese is located in Ascona, a former fishing village at the Lago Maggiore. The renovation project for this 100sm house has been divided in two phases. The 1st phase concerns the redefinition of the entrance situation opening to the front yard. A new entrance with a private access from the front patio is created on the North facade, by widening a former window in the bearing wall. The new door designed especially for the Casa Cinese has been built with materials also used in the original building: solid oak, brass handles, and a full-height glass pannel that lets the light flow into the entrance. As the history of the house is related to the Monte Verità, a hill located above Ascona, the details of the wrought iron elements are directly inspired from the former sanatorium building of the Monte Verità community, which has been destroyed since then, and relives here as a tribute.
