This attic, which has never been invested before, is to be completely renovated and its roof refurbished before being converted into a two-room apartment on one side and a three-room apartment on the other side. These raw spaces transport us to another time and project the history of this late 19th century building through the upheavals of Berlin. Our renovation concept proposes a transformation of the place while respecting its original state – the original roof tiles are to be reused in the terrazos used for floors and surfaces in the kitchens and bathrooms; the beams are left in their natural colours in the living-rooms and painted white in the bedrooms. The wall surfaces are white, including the monumental bricks mantels that mark the spaces. The minimalist design is spacious, punctuated by the alcoves and carpentry nooks that make this architecture with a view of Berlin’s rooftops so special.
